Partners and Collaborators

The Giardiello Group operates out of The Department of Chemistry at The university of Liverpool, with support from The UoL Materials Innovation Factory. Dr Giardiello is also co-founder of the UoL Spin-Out company, Tandem Nano ltd

UoL Functional Materials Team

The Functional Materials Team is a cross-group working collaboration (created in 2020) designed to encourage multidisciplinary interaction and to build and support new technology development. The team comprises. The collective research focus of the Team include polymer synthesis, polymer chemistry, colloid science, inorganic chemistry, organic and inorganic nanoparticles, nanocomposites, nanomedicine, radiochemistry and diagnostics.

The UoL Nanomedicine Partnership

The Nanomedicine Partnership is academic partnership (created in 2009) that spans the Faculties of Health & Life Science and Science & Engineering at the University of Liverpool to collectively progress fundamental nanomedicine research towards clinical demonstration and the realisation of patient benefits.

Outputs from the partnership include the first human trials of an orally dosed antiretroviral therapy for HIV treatment and demonstration of the potential for long acting nanoparticle depot injections to enable malaria prophylaxis. The partnership was instrumental in generating the creation of the British Society for Nanomedicine (BSNM), the UK core for the European Nanomedicine Characterisation Laboratory (EUNCL) and The UoL Centre of Excellence for Long-acting Therapeutics (CELT). The partnership also signed the first academic technology access contract with the UNITAID-funded Medicines Patent Pool.

External Partners and Collaborators

External partners and collaborators include Magnetic Insight Inc., North West Cancer Research, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Sensor City, The Clinton Health Access Initiative and The University of California, Berkeley.
